About Me - Scala

Hello. My name is Pedro Frazão. I’m from Portugal. I use the nickname "Scala" in several chess sites.

I play mostly 1+0 or 3+0 Games. I don’t use any kind of helps while I play, just my imagination. I like to listening music while I play.

Sometimes I stream my chess games live in twitch.tv with the nickname "scalachess". 

When do I learn how to play Chess?

I learn chess at the age of 7/8.  My father teach me the rules of the game and play with me .

When I was 14, my parents gave me a Spectrum and I play a lot in a spectrum  chess game called  Colossus Chess 4.0.

Then I stop to play chess around the age of 16.

In 1998 I bought  my first Windows PC and in the same year I find a chess program called KChess and begin to play chess again.

I begin to play online in 2001 with Fritz  and Chess Partner…

What’s the story behind my nick name Scala?

I live in a town called Santarém which is a town from the roman period. Santarém in that period was called "Scalabys" and I remove the “bys” words from “Scalabys” and "Scala" appear. So my nickname is in honor of my hometown, Santarém. 

Where places do I play?.

I play, mostly in playchess.com, Lichess.org and Chess.com with my nickname “Scala”

I have accounts in Chesscube.com, Chessfriends.com, freechess.org (Fics), Chess24, Simplechess.com  with Username “Scala” and  ChessPlanet.ru with the username "Scala_Portugal" but I don’t play anymore in this sites.

What is my elo Rating?

Depends from site to site and the if I play bullet, blitz or slow games. Usually in blitz 3+0 is around 1600 and 1900 but in slower time controls 8+0 or more I'm above 2000.

Do I play OTB?

No, I just play Online.
